报告内容摘要:In this presentation, he will share his recent research results and better understanding of some old results on both solar cells and battery electrodes. For solar cell research, he will demonstrate and discuss how the micro- and nanostructures and surface chemistry of photoanode would affect the power conversion efficiency; similarly, the significant impacts of the insertion of extra quantum dot layers and plasmonic nanocrystals as well as the doping or alloying in quantum dots on photon capturing, charge transfer and interface recombination will be elaborated. In the second part of the seminar, the focus will be devoted to the better understanding how the controlling factors in electrode materials affect the lithium-ion storage capacity and electrochemical potential. Particularly he will have a little in-depth discussion on the reversible 1st order phase transition and impacts of crystal field on the lithium ion storage through intercalation reactions.

曹国忠教授简介:Dr. Guozhong Cao is Boeing-Steiner professor of Materials Science and Engineering, professor of Chemical Engineering and adjunct professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Washington, Seattle, WA, and also a senior professor at Beijing Institute of Nanoenergy and Nanosystems, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a"Thousand Talents Program"professor at Dalian University of Technology, China. Dr. Cao received his BS degree from East China University of Science and Technology, MS from Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and PhD from Eindhoven University of Technology, the Netherlands. He has published over 450 technical papers with over 300 in archive journals and authored and edited 7 books, and is one of the Thomson Reuters Highly Cited Researchers. His current research focused on chemical processing of nanomaterials for solar cells, batteries, and supercapacitors as well as actuators and sensors.
